Bar review: Graphic Bar, W1

An evening of gin-spiration, modern art, and cool, central vibes.

gin social

Go: On the first Monday of every month

Drink: All the gin. Sample different flavours, gin cocktails, or opt for a good old-fashioned G&T.

Pay: Nothing, it’s free!

If you love gin (check) and free things (double check) then you’ll definitely love this Graphic Bar social. Held the first Monday of the month, gin enthusiasts are invited to gather at for an evening of tasting. Plus, you’ll learn all about how the gin is made from one of Graphic’s hand-picked producers.

Each social offers something slightly different. When I went, this included a welcome gin cocktail, eight shots of different flavoured gins and another gin cocktail to close (I’d recommend you eat before going, because that’s an awful lot of gin on an empty stomach). If all you know about the spirit is how to knock it back with a mixer, then you’ll find it really interesting to learn about the distillery process, especially from the smaller companies and unheard-of brands who host these evenings.

On any night, Graphic is a mecca for gin lovers and the staff really know their stuff. They stock more than 235 gins – the UK’s largest selection. So don’t worry if you miss the first Monday of the month, you can pretty much pop by whenever and be guaranteed a great night – whether you’re catching up with friends or out on a gin date.

The long, narrow venue is filled with bare, hanging lightbulbs as well as a backdrop of art installations from various talents. It feels very fresh and cool. Plus, Golden Square is just a few minutes from Carnaby and Regent Street, so it’s ideal to get to after work.

Although the night is free, numbers are limited so you’ll need to RSVP here to guarantee your place.
